Upcycling a Lamp

My latest little adventure!

I recently jumped onto Vinted in search of a lamp base to use as a prop for my handmade lampshades — and honestly, I struck gold. I spotted the most gorgeous base for just £8 (yes, £8!) and there was no way I was leaving it behind.

When it arrived, it was even better than the photos. After giving it a thorough clean, it started to shine beautifully again. The original white lead, however, was looking a bit sad — grubby, worn and definitely not doing the lamp any favours. So, with a bit of teamwork from my partner, we replaced it with a sleek new black lead, and wow… what a difference!

Next came the fun part: choosing the fabric for its new shade. I had three favourites lined up — Kaffe Fassett Paperweight, Kaffe Fassett Millefiore (red) and Millefiore (antique). The base had a wonderfully Indian-inspired feel, and although all three fabrics looked lovely, the Millefiore in antique absolutely stole the show. And I think you’ll agree… the final lamp is simply stunning. I’m so smitten with it that I’ve decided it’s not going anywhere — it’s staying with me!

If you’ve got a lamp base in need of a little love and transformation, I’d be thrilled to help bring it back to life with a new complimenting shade.
